T²Coffee café, situated mere hundreds of meters from Chengdu’s Xinglong Lake within a lakeside technology park, posed a unique design challenge: how to visually connect with the lakescape while crafting a distinctive façade identity under architectural constraints. The elliptical building morphology draws inspiration from the lake’s contours, materializing the concept of “Walden in white” as its spatial theme.
The design poetically interprets aqueous elements – integrating rippling water motifs and light installations that mimic liquid reflections. Glass curtain walls dissolve boundaries to establish an intimate street-level dialogue. A 15-meter-long curved bar counter at the entrance forms an open social arena where visitors casually linger, with its white minimalist aesthetic intentionally counterbalancing urban workplace tensions. Flexible spatial configurations indoors seamlessly extend to outdoor seating areas furnished with camping-inspired furniture, collectively forging an interactive public realm. Through this innovative spatial narrative, T²Coffee evolves into a charismatic “third space” where architecture, nature, and urban vitality converge.
